Do women know about their changes before checking themselves to doctors? Women who never get pregnant might think they suffer some kind of disease when their body has problems. They may not realize body is changing during pregnancy.

Becoming pregnant is the happiest thing in women’s life. Even though there are some women out there who don’t really know about the changes in their body which related to pregnancy. To understand more about the body’s changes at the beginning of pregnancy; better you check this out:

Does my Child need Therapy?

May 1st, 2008

Today, it is hard to determine if you should be providing child therapy to your child. It is very difficult for parents to think that there may be a problem with their baby. After all, up until the teen years hit, they allowed you to take care of them. They told you when things were not okay. You dealt with their needs throughout their life. But, now, you need to wonder if you should be providing teen therapy for them. To really know if your child needs help, ask yourself these questions.

What has changed about my child that has me concerned? If you are worried about their physical health, there is no doubt that you would recommend that they work with a doctor, right? So, if it is their emotional health that may be a problem, you need to get them the teen therapy they need.
Does your child have problems with eating, socializing or does he have behavior problems at school? Acting out in any of these areas is not normal. If your child is having problems, especially at school, child therapy can help.

Do you know that your child is drinking, doing drugs, engaging in sex, or is depressed? If you know this is the case, there is no doubt you need to get them into teen therapy before these circumstances ruin their lives. If you know about it, then it has probably gotten far out of hand.
Do you want them to have the best ability to make the right choices? Even if you do not feel your child has any problems, teen therapy can help to encourage things to stay that way.

Child therapy can be a blessing for a child. Even if they hate it and do not want to go, it can help them to realize that you care about their well being. It will help them to know what to do and how to react in their lives. Hearing from another adult what is right or wrong helps to strengthen their understanding and their belief in you. Teen therapy should not be a punishment then, but a way to get your child to safety.

Planning Baby Showers - Pregnancy Result and it is all Systems Go

April 14th, 2008

A positive pregnancy test result sends a signal to close friends and family that it is all systems go for the holding of a baby shower party for the expectant mother. Baby Showers are parties that are held to celebrate the new edition expected at a later date. Shower parties and the planning of them have dramatically changed over the years.

A lot of thought goes behind the event. Through out the early months of pregnancy the expectant mother rests while the party is carefully organized by the select chosen few. In the past Baby Showers were usually arranged by non relatives but that has all changed. Mother-to-be is the only person who does not get involved with the preparations.

Knowing who to invite can be difficult, once upon a time the only inclusion on the invite list was that of immediate family. You can approach mum-to-be on this part but if it is to be a surprise celebration then you will have to scout around and do a little homework on who to invite. The birth of every baby born into the same family is now celebrated with a Baby Shower party. Traditionally it was the first born that was recognised in this manner.

Gatherings for the first born normally had more guests attending the baby shower party than that of the second or third child.
Intimacy prevails at baby showers so try your best to keep your friends as close knit as they get. Different ways of sending invitations is best checked out. Email or the telephonel are two ways for inviting but the nicest and more appropriate is to send a personalized invitation card this way the guest gets to keep a little memento of the day.

Guys and dolls in unison work together when making babies but what of the men at baby shower parties. This type of occasion intends to have more feminine evolvement but if guys feel comfortable with this then so be it.

Where the event should be held and celebrated is entirely up to you, a popular choice is in back gardens, but venues like halls, restaurants are as much appropriate for on the day of the baby shower. Depending on your list of guests the size of the venue will have to be taken into account for comfort for all attending.

The best time to throw a Baby Shower party is at least two months before the baby is expected to make his/her appearance. This gives people chance that come bearing gifts enough time to make their donations in hope that mum-to-be has not already purchased the same items.

Baby Showers for expecting mothers are a lovely and thoughtful surprise therefore less stress for the expectant mum when it comes to organizing events as such.
A properly coordinated baby shower will leave guests with memories of a phenomenal and everlasting day/night to remember.
Memories relate to something that happened in the past that you recall and reminisce about but if they are FOND memories then they will remain in your thoughts every day from that day on.

If this day is to be remembered for as long as ever after then be sure to browse this fabulous site for fantastic ideas/themes. All you could possibly want to announce babys presence can found here at http://www.good-baby-showers.com.

20 Harmful Things You Should Never Do To Your Baby

April 9th, 2008

These are the 20 “silly” things that you should never do to your baby… Never!!

(1) Never let your baby play with balloons or plastic bags — they could be a choking hazard.

(2) Never put stuffed animals or dolls that hold cassette tapes near your baby when she sleeps because if the tape unwinds it could cause strangulation.

(3) Never let your baby snack on crackers or other bread products all day. These can maker her less interested in more nutritious foods and can fill her up.

(4) Never leave your baby with someone you don’t know.

(5) Never put magnets on the refrigerator door because these magnets can break and the small spieces can cause a choking hazard.

(6) Never put off decorating your nursery because you might not have time after the baby arrives.

(7) Never put solid foods, like cereal, in your baby’s bottle since it may pose a choking hazard and it also adds unnecessary calories.

(8) Never put clothes that has loose ties or strings on your baby because these could cause strangulation.

(9) Never put too many large toys in the playpen with an older baby who can pull herself up. She might use these to climb out.

(10) Never give your infant any small, hard foods, such as nuts, popcorn or raisins.

(11) Never heat bottles in the microwave because the milk could get too hot and burn your baby.

(12) Never keep loose objects in the back seat of the car when baby is in the car seat. If the car suddenly stops, the objects can fall on your baby.

(13) Never leave a baby alone in a parked car for any reason.

(14) Never leave your newborn baby with a toddler, even if they seem to be getting along. Toddlers may endanger the baby without even knowing it because they are sometimes unpredictable.

(15) Never leave plastic dry cleaner bags near the baby’s room because your baby can pull off pieces and choke on them.

(16) Never leave your baby alone, except in a crib.

(17) Never leave your child in the bathtub alone.

(18) Never leave your window screens open.

(19) Never let your baby sleep or nap with a bottle of juice or even milk. This may cause tooth decay.

(20) Never use pressure gates at the top of stairs because your baby could lean against it, push it over and go tumbling.

Kid Costume Fun

April 4th, 2008

Remember how much fun you had dressing up in a princess costume or a cowboy costume or just putting together some silly clothes when you were a child?

Kids love playing in costumes and going to parties in costume for one very simple reason… It’s fun!

When I was a young boy, I liked cowboys and pirates and I had so much fun wearing my cowboy or pirate clothes at parties or on Halloween.

Child Costume Fun

Today, child costume fun is only limited by your imagination. And you can find just about any costume you can think of at one of the online costume superstores.

You can easily find your child’s favorite TV or movie character costumes, animal costumes, princess costumes or just about any other type of costume your child likes. And of course you’ll find great cowboy and pirate costumes (my favorites).

Kid Costume Fun

For infants and toddlers the costume selections are oh-so-cute! How would your baby look as a “Pea in a Pod,” or a “Red Hot Chili Pepper?”

And for the princess in your life, there are so many wonderful and enchanting costume choices including the Disney princess collection, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Aurora, Snow White and Ariel. And if your daughter loves Barbie, you’ll find that too.

One of the most popular costumes for both girls and boys are pirate costumes. “Ahoy thar maties! We be off on a fun high seas adventure lookin fer buried treasure says me.”

You can have lots of fun with your child if you choose to put together your own homemade costume. And you can easily pick up a few costume accessories to dress things up a little.

Our granddaughter recently wore a homemade Darth Vader costume with a helmet her dad got for her at a costume shop. Her costume was so much fun that she won second prize in a costume contest.

You can visit one of the better online costume stores and look over their kid costume selections. You’ll find wonderful costumes for every age group.

There are several great kid costume shops online, and at the end of this article you can follow the link to one of the best and most trusted online costume stores where you’ll find a huge selection of costumes and accessories.

Think back to when you were a child and how much fun you had dressing up and pretending. Yes, kids of all ages like dressing up as a different character or someone from another time or as a fantasy character. Its all fun, great fun.

Now I’ve got to find a good excuse to put on my cowboy outfit or my pirate clothes. How bout a costume party for no reason at all? Sounds like good kid costume fun to me.

Asperger Syndrome - Children and Tantrums

April 1st, 2008

Children with Asperger’s Syndrome the world over share a common trait - meltdown - otherwise known as a tantrum, a “birko”, a “go-off” or “spack-attack”.

The visible symptoms of meltdown are as varied as the Asperger children themselves, but every parent is able to describe their child’s meltdown behaviour in intricate detail.

Meltdowns can be short lived, or last as long as two hours. They can be as infrequent as once a month (often coinciding with the lunar cycle/full moon) or occur as frequently as 4-6 times a day.

Whatever the frequency and duration, an Asperger child having a meltdown is difficult for parents/carers/teachers to deal with.

Meltdown in Asperger children is triggered by a response to their environment. These responses can be caused by avoidance desire, anxiety or sensory overload. Triggers need to be recognised and identified.

So how do we deal with a meltdown? What should you do when meltdown occurs?

An adults’ (parents/carers/teachers) behaviour can influence a meltdown’s duration, so always check your response first.

1. Calm down
2. Quiet down
3. Slow down
4. Prioritise safety
5. Re-establish self-control in the child, then deal with the issue

1. Take 3 slow, deep breaths, and rather than dreading the meltdown that’s about to take place, assure yourself that you’ve survived meltdowns 1000 times before and will do so this time too.

2. Keep your speaking voice quiet and your tone neutrally pleasant. Don’t speak unnecessarily. Less is best. Don’t be “baited” into an argument. (Often Asperger children seem to “want” to fight. They know how to “push your buttons”, so don’t be side-tracked from the meltdown issue).

3. Slow down. Meltdown often occurs at the most inconvenient time e.g. rushing out the door to school. The extra pressure the fear of being late creates, adds to the stress of the situation. (Asperger children respond to referred mood and will pick up on your stress. This stress is then added to their own.) So forget the clock and focus on the situation. Make sure the significant people in your life know your priorities here. Let your boss know that your Asperger child has meltdowns that have the capacity to bring life to a standstill, and you may be late. Let your child’s teacher know that if your child is late due to a meltdown that it’s unavoidable, and your child shouldn’t be reprimanded for it.

4. Prioritise safety when your Asperger child is having a meltdown. Understand that they can be extremely impulsive and irrational at this time. Don’t presume that the safety rules they know will be utilized while they’re melting down. Just because your Asperger child knows not to go near the street when they are calm doesn’t mean they won’t run straight into 4 lanes of traffic when they are having a meltdown. If your Asperger child starts melting down when you’re driving in the car, pull over and stop. If your child tends to “flee” when melting down, don’t chase them. This just adds more danger to the situation. Tail them at a safe distance (maintain visual contact) if necessary.

5. When your Asperger child is calm and has regained self-control, he will often be exhausted. Keep that in mind as you work through the meltdown issue. Reinforce to your child the appropriate way to express their needs/requests.

Remember that all behaviour is a form of communication, so try to work out the ‘message’ your Asperger child is trying to convey with their meltdown, rather than responding and reacting to the behaviour displayed.

That Terrible Ivan had Syphilis

March 16th, 2008

Ivan the Terrible was the Fourth Russian Ivan. He was the very first Tsar of Russia. He was born in August 25, 1530 and passed on to the Great Beyond, or more likely to Hades, on March 18, 1584.

You can read about Terrible Ivan at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_the_Terrible

Ivan the Terrible had an unhappy childhood.

To add insult to injury, he married seven times which guaranteed him to also have an unhappy adulthood.

He was crazy, crazy, crazy. He threw dogs and cats out the windows of the Kremlin. That was not nice.

Ivan accidentally killed his son. It was during an argument so it may have been accidentally on purpose.

Some people just didn’t like Ivan. When they dug up his old bones they found that he had been poisoned by mercury.

Some say he was not poisoned on purpose. Some say he was.

Syphilis

Those who say Ivan the Terrible was not poisoned think he was simply taking mercury to heal a social disease called syphilis.

Syphilis is an unpleasant venereal disease which you don’t want to catch. Here are some facts:

Syphilis is caused by a bacterium. His name is Treponema pallidum. Don’t ever trust him!

Syphilis can be passed from mother to child during pregnancy. That is a very sad happening.

Syphilis comes from sexual contact with an infected partner. Some strains such as those in Korea are very persistent. That means they just won’t go away with normal treatment.

Syphilis goes hand-in-hand with HIV. They just love to attract each other.

African-Americans seem to be more attractive to Treponema pallidum. Be ware of that critter!

Syphilis occurs in Stages 1, 2, Latent, and 3. Treatment is available and is especially effective in the early stages.

If you are sexually active with multiple partners, or if you receive treatment for any other venereal disease, then ask you doctor or health services provider to test you for syphilis.

If you have symptoms of syphilis, tell your friends to get tested too.

In the late stages of syphilis, Mr. Treponema pallidum attacks every organ of your body. It can make you blind, deaf, or crippled. It can stop your heart with time. It can destroy your nervous system.

During World War II, the military showed “VD Films” showing victims of syphilis in the late stages. The object was to promote the use of condoms and venereal disease prevention kits. The result was that it scared the hell out of the GIs.

If you have a sore of any kind in your genital areas, especially if the sore does NOT hurt, see a doctor at once. The sore called a chancre will go away but Mr. Treponema pallidum keeps chugging away. Later you may get a rash.

Read the information provided by the National Institute of Health and Human Services at http://www.niaid.nih.gov/factsheets/stdsyph.htm

To learn about the origins of syphilis go to http://www.archaeology.org/9701/newsbriefs/syphilis.html

Ivan the Terrible didn’t have our modern treatment methods. He did what he could.

More on Ivan the Terrible

Read more about Ivan the Terrible at http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/programmes/ivan/ivanmain.shtml and http://www.auburn.edu/academic/liberal_arts/foreign/russian/art/vasnetsov-ivan.html

I couldn’t find any Ivan the Terrible jokes. I guess he just wasn’t funny. Well, here is one of my own:

Question: Why did Ivan the Terrible throw dogs and cats out the Kremlin windows?

Answer: He was in correspondence with Galileo Galilei (1564-1642).

So how bad was Ivan the Terrible?

Well, Jozef Stalin admired him. (Read about Stalin’s cruelty at http://www.historyplace.com/worldhistory/genocide/stalin.htm)

So he definitely was IVAN THE TERRIBLE!
